Friday 10 September 2021 was the eve of the new school year. The day was therefore very busy at Casa Valentina.
The morning began with the distribution of school bags to kindergarten children. The day of 60 children, from 3 to 7 years old, which are benefiting from the pre-school assistance program of Valentina Romania, was brightened up. Indeed, each child who came to the Casa received school bag with hygiene products. Furthermore, Valentina promotes access to kindergarten, and thus to school system, via the funding of lunch and a part of the school supplies of these children.
The children, who were in the first place shy, stayed around their parents or their grand-parents. However, when they were given their school bags, they were smiling. They then hurried up to look at what was in their bag, and didn’t want to leave it aside.
In the day care center, the older ones were doing homework as well as holiday activities. After lunch, they too discovered their new school supplies with impatience but in a joyful and easy-going atmosphere. Their school bags had been prepared the days before by Valentina Romania’s team. The 40 children in the day care center program, from 7 to 17 years old, were given a school bag with their name on it, containing school supplies adapted to their grade.
When the school bags were distributed, all the children were eager to see what was inside. They discovered notebooks for each school subject, vocabulary books, pens and drawing materials.
For some of them, it was their first day in primary school. We could feel that this first day of school was eagerly awaited, as shown by Cristi’s reaction. Cristi, who is entering class 0 this year, wanted to spread out all his supplies on the table, while getting excited at the discovery of each object. The older children also showed their enthusiasm by discussing among themselves the new school year.
All children deserve a future, let’s help them build it!
