In August, 25 children aged between 8 and 17 had the joy of living in a “fantasy world”. This was the theme of the camp organized in Odobești, Vrancea County, a personal development camp designed to help children discover and experience new things, as well as their own talents and qualities. We were accompanied by an art teacher, Corina Lungu from Genesis School, and a young AIKIDO master, who introduced art and sport into the lives of our children. These activities were complemented by access to the swimming pool, the main attraction and reward of the camp.
There were five full days, in which innocence, the joy of participating in the first camp of their lives (for most of them), the desire to succeed, perseverance and seriousness helped them overcome barriers, think and act in a team, and develop their empathy and spirit of solidarity. We saw teenagers ready to help the little ones but also to support the pedagogical team, teenagers helping 8-year-old girls to get through the separation from their families more easily, but also toddlers who, being in a camp for the first time, managed to overcome the communication barrier and integrate into the group. The camp ended with an evening dedicated to the pleasure of giving, and their generosity lived up to our expectations: the children wrote notes with positive things about their classmates (chosen by us at random) and gave them symbolic gifts (necklaces with pendants made by them). The awarding of diplomas and medals followed, before the good mood and the dance made them forget their emotions. The torus, the sweet moment everyone was waiting for, could not be missed.
Their fantasy world was as colorful as the peacock feathers created by each of them, like the tree of life seen through their eyes or the personalized fans and other 3D objects they made.
We are proud to be able to bring, year after year, new experiences into the lives of children that help them progress and have confidence in their own strengths.
