A child's schoolbag is his comrade, it carries his knowledge daily.
Friday, September 10, 2021, represented for children the eve of the beginning of the school year. And for Valentina's house it was one of the busiest and most enthusiastic days. Enthusiasm, because we managed to be with the children this year as well.
The day began with the distribution of supplies to children enrolled in kindergarten. The 60 children, aged between 3 and 7, enrolled in the Valentina Association's preschool program, received with joy and enthusiasm the news that they would receive schoolbags equipped for school. Also, each child who came to Valentina's house received, in addition to the schoolbag with supplies, hygiene products. More than that, in the Valentina family we support children's access to education. Thus, Valentina covers part of the lunch expenses and part of the children's school supplies.
The children were shy at first, they sat around their parents or grandparents. But when they received their school bags, they started to smile and become curious, their happiness made us happy too. After each one received their bag, they rushed to see what supplies were hidden in it, the children loved the bags and did not want to part with them.
As for the older ones, we find them in the day center. They were doing their homework as well as holiday activities. After lunch, they discovered their new bags and school supplies with enthusiasm, in a quiet and cheerful atmosphere. The children's bags were prepared with care and love by the members of the Valentina team. So, the 40 children, aged between 7 and 17, received bags with their names, each bag adapted to the school needs of each child.
When the school bags were distributed, all the children were eager to see what was inside. They discovered notebooks for each school subject, vocabulary books, pens, pencils and drawing materials.
For some of them, this beginning of the school year was also their first day in primary school. We could feel that this first day of school was eagerly awaited, as shown by Cristi's reaction, and the children's emotions inevitably reached us. Cristi, who entered grade 0 this year, wanted to spread all his supplies on the table, while he got excited when discovering each object. The older children also showed their enthusiasm by discussing among themselves about the new school year and the things they received.
