MIA (Mama In Actiune) is a subsidiary organization of the Valentina association created to support marginalized families of Bucharest’s Ferentari neighborhood.
MIA has in its aims to effectively achieve social and professional reinsertion through sewing training at the Casa Valentina for mothers of the Ferentari neighborhood. Their children are also integrated into the scholastic support program at Valentina in order to free their time for training.
At the beginning of the year the workshop head, Madalina – who herself had integrated the program a few years ago and eventually took the position – had been recruited full time by a client firm. At the workshop, she has organized the work process and has trained other mothers. We are rejoiced to see her evolve in the professional realm and we wish her all the success on this new path.
While awaiting the arrival of a new head for the workshop, the sewing team, Cristina, Simona, Vasilica, Nuti and Silvia reorganized around the volunteer team, Fabienne Faivre and Corinne Ruiz who ensure the interim once a week in order to provide training and continue the production process.
The workshop continues henceforth with the production of bags, accessories (purses, wallets, kit pouches, etc…) and home equipment (picnic carpets, kitchen towels, table sets, tablecloths) with customable design, like embroideries. The products are sold on different occasions such as private sales, and are also available at the showroom located in Pipera at Stephanie Huet’s home (through appointment, contact her at 0753 043 360).
All our team is motivated to produce novelties for this summer which we will present with joy at our next event on Thursday, the 24th of May. We await you in great numbers!
