Parents training and employment support

Valentina Romania wishes to help a family entirely, so parents are included. We help them find work. Parents face many difficulties in finding jobs because of discrimination and a lack of proper formal qualifications.

Our aim

  • help parents who depend on social assistance to become independent
  • improving their social and economic circumstances
  • find jobs for the parents

How it works

About 50% of the families we work with have a stable job. They do not usually have formal qualifications nor a complete education.

When parents need a job, they come to Valentina Romania and request help. The social assistants ask what they can do (training received) and what they would like to do. If a job opportunity comes up, they are contacted if they are reliable and serious. If they need training we sign them up for qualification training (2-5 month course to be a salesperson, waiter, cook, electrician...) according to our budget.

The project is managed the Valentina Romania’s social assistants and involves:

  • an interview with the parent to understand qualifications and desires
  • contacting parents if a job opportunity is found
  • finding a training center for parents who need to be trained
  • the parents must sign a contract saying they will complete the training and procedure
  • help to fill proper entry form for the training
  • pay the registration fee
  • monitoring the attendance and performance

Results

  • assist parents to find a secure job to provide a stable income to support their family
  • parents develop new skills, abilities and knowledge
