Hygiene

Most of the families we work with do not have running water, electricity and central heating. They have little facilities to do laundry and have basic hygiene. Therefore Valentina Romania has created a hygiene project.

 

Our aim

Offer the families the opportunity to:

• wash laundry
• receive training with the Red Cross in basic hygiene skills
• benefit once a year on an ophthalmological and a dental check, followed by treatment if required

How it works

• at Casa Valentina we have 2 washing machines at disposal that the social assistants manage
• families come with their children’s clothing
• a shower for the children if they wish to use it
• detergent and hygiene products (toothbrush, soap, towel, shampoo...)
• the children must brush their teeth daily

Results

• increase personal hygiene for the entire family
• hygiene education for the parents and children
• children are more accepted in school
• parents are accepted in their professional environment or as they find a job
